Summer Learning Journey

For this summer learning journey activity I had to imagine I was in a waka heading off to New Zealand and imagine writing a letter to a friend about I would be feeling.

Letter: Hi Frank I am really nervous. The people around have lots of tattoos. I am scared because I am worried about my health. I have not eaten or drank anything ever since we got inside the waka. Hopefully I make it out alive.

  1. Hi Nurul,

My name's Ruby and I'm one of the people who will be blogging with you during the Summer Learning Journey. It's great to see that you have been making a start on these activities. Keep it up!

Good work with your letter. I like how you have talked about being worried for your health. It would have been tricky to stay well while out on the ocean with limited fresh water supplies.

Are the tattoos you're talking about ta moko tattoos? I wonder what you can find out about why Maori peoples have these tattoos. It's very interesting I think.

I look forward to reading more of your blog over the summer.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.

Looks like you have made a great start to your activities this summer, awesome work!

I really enjoyed reading your letter ...sounds like you might have been having a bit of a scary experience of your waka?! I wonder what was wrong with your health and how that happened?
...Maybe you were coming to New Zealand in the hopes your health would get better?
    It's very mysterious!
I think if I was Frank I would be very nervous for you after reading this letter, I hope you made it to New Zealand okay!

Hopefully you have been enjoying your break away from school and maybe we'll see you back blogging soon!

    Ellee :)
